Smothered Pork Ribs

1 teaspoon onion powder  
1/2 teaspoon paprika  
1/2 teaspoon salt  
1/2 teaspoon pepper  
2 pounds boneless pork ribs trimmed
1/4 cup vegetable oil  
1 onion sliced thin
2 cloves garlic minced
1/2 teaspoon fresh thyme minced, can sub a pinch of dried thyme
1 cup beef broth  
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
